The goal of our staff is to provide the highest quality medical and surgical skin care. Dermatology Associates, LLC is a Maine Corporation. Present members of Dermatology Associates are:

J. Michael Taylor, M.D.
A native of Buffalo, New York, Dr. Taylor is a graduate of Amherst College, Amherst, MA and received his M.D. from S.U.N.Y. at Buffalo, New York.  Dr. Taylor completed his residency in internal medicine and dermatology at the University of California Hospital in San Francisco, California.  He received his Masters in Public Health from Harvard School of Public Health in Boston.  Dr. Taylor served in the Peace Corps in Nigeria from 1965-1967.  Prior to establishing his dermatology practice he was the Associate Vice President for Ambulatory Care Services at Maine Medical Center, the Chief of the Department of Community Medicine at Maine Medical Center, and the Acting Director of the Family Nurse Associate Program at the University of Southern Maine.  Dr. Taylor is president of the Greater Portland International Health Initiative, an organization providing health services to Cap-Haitien, Haiti.  He lives in Portland with his wife, Wendy, a consultant and a current member of the Board of United Way of Greater Portland.

 

Lucinda L. Wegener, M.D.
Dr. Wegener a native of California, received undergraduate degrees from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon and Portland State University in Portland, Oregon, graduating Magna Cum Laude.  She received her M.D. degree from the University of Oregon Health Sciences Center in Portland, Oregon.  She was an intern and resident in medicine at the University of Oregon health Sciences Center.  Dr. Wegener was a research fellow in nephrology and in dermatology, and completed her dermatology residency at the Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Oregon.  She is board certified in internal medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine and in dermatology through the American Board of Dermatology.  Dr. Wegener resides in Cape Elizabeth with her husband and two children.

 

K. Erik Kostelnik, M.D.
A native of Pennsylvania, Dr. Kostelnik graduated from Johns Hopkins University and received his M.D. degree from Thomas Jefferson University School of Medicine.  Dr. Kostelnik completed his residency in internal medicine at Pennsylvania Hospital and in dermatology at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.  He is Board Certified through the American Board of Dermatology.   Dr. Kostelnik was Chief of Dermatology at the Veterans Hospital in White River Junction, Vermont and a Clinical Dermatologist at the Lahey-Hitchcok Clinic in Brattleboro, Vermont before coming to Portland, Maine.  Dr. Kostelnik currently resides in Cape Elizabeth with his wife and two children.

 

David J. Baginski, M.D.
Dr. Baginski is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Dr. Baginski received his undergraduate training at George Washington University,  Washington, D.C.  He received his M.D. degree from Hahnemann University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  He completed his internship at Fletcher Allen Health Care and the University of Vermont College of Medicine, Burlington, Vermont.  Dr. Baginski completed his residency in dermatology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa.  Dr. Baginski is certified in dermatology through the American Board of Dermatology.  Dr. Baginski resides in Scarborough with his wife and two children.

 

Carrine A. Burns, M.D.
Dr. Burns is a native of New York.  She received her undergraduate degree from Cornell University, and then went on to medical school at the University of Virginia.  Prior to her dermatology training, she completed a residency in family practice at Maine Medical Center.  She trained in dermatology at the University of Rochester, where she also completed fellowship training in Mohs micrographic surgery.  She is certified in dermatology through the American Board of Dermatology.  Dr. Burns resides in Portland with her husband.

 

Jennifer W. Bragg, M.D.
A native of Bangor, Maine, Dr. Bragg is a graduate of Amherst College, Amherst, MA.  She received her M.D. from Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons, New York, New York.  Dr. Bragg completed her internship in internal medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital and her residency in dermatology at New York University’s Ronald O. Perelman Department of Dermatology, both in New York, New York. 
Dr. Bragg is certified in dermatology through the American Board of Dermatology, and is trained in numerous cosmetic procedures including laser, Botox, and fillers. Dr. Bragg served in the Peace Corps in Senegal from 1994-1995.  She currently resides in Falmouth with her husband and son.

Christopher J. Steen, MD
Dr. Steen is a native of New Jersey. He received his undergraduate training at Drew University in Madison, NJ. After graduating with his medical degree from New Jersey Medical School, he served his internship at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ. He completed his dermatology residency at New Jersey Medical School in Newark, NJ. Dr. Steen has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals as well as several chapters in dermatology textbooks. He is board certified in dermatology through the American Board of Dermatology. Dr. Steen resides in Cape Elizabeth with his wife.

 

Carmen J. Rinaldi, MD
Dr. Rinaldi is a native of Massachusetts.  He received his undergraduate and medical degrees from Tufts University in Boston, MA.  Dr. Rinaldi fulfilled his internship at Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence, RI.  He completed his dermatology residency and dermatopathology fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.  Dr. Rinaldi is double board certified in dermatology and dermatopathology through the American Board of Dermatology and the American Board of Pathology.  He currently lives in the Portland area with his wife and two sons.

 

Chelsea J. Dugan, N.P.
Chelsea J. Dugan, N.P., a native of New Hampshire, received her nursing and R.N. degree from Fairfield University, in Fairfield, Connecticut.  She received her Master of Science in Nursing and her Family Nurse Practitioner Certification from the University of Vermont, in Burlington, Vermont. Chelsea is a member of the Dermatology Nurses Association, the Maine Nurse Practitioner Association and the American College of Nurse Practitioners. Chelsea resides in Falmouth with her husband.

 

Alan G. White, PA-C
Alan White is a native of Maine.  He received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Southern Maine, in Portland.  He received his Masters of Health Professions and is Physician Assistant Certificate from Northeastern University, Boston, Massachusetts.  Before joining Dermatology Associates, Mr. White was an Emergency Department Physician Assistant for Mercy Hospital Emergency Department and for Brighton Medical Center in Portland.  Mr. White is currently an Associate Faculty instructor at Northeastern University PA Program and a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.    Mr. White resides in Windham with his wife and two children.

 

Cynthia Palmer, NP-C
Cynthia Palmer-Spencer, a native of Maine, received her nursing and R.N. degree from the University of Maine, Orono.  Ms. Palmer-Spencer received her Master of Science in Nursing and her Family and Adult Nurse Practitioner certification from Simmons College, in Boston, Massachusetts.  Prior to joining Dermatology Associates, she was a Nurse Practitioner for Mere Point Medical Associates in Brunswick and practiced dermatology at Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates in Wellesley and Braintree, Massachusetts.  She is a member of the Dermatology Nurses Association, and Co-Chair for Special Interest Group representing Nurse Practitioners.  Ms. Palmer-Spencer resides in Portland with her husband and two children.

 

Betty B. Small, ANP
Betty B. Small, is a native of Philadelphia, PA.  After graduating with a BSEd from Syracuse University, she moved to Maine with her husband and taught English and theatre arts at Yarmouth High School.  After many years raising her family, she returned to MMC school of Surgical Technology and became a certified surgical technologist.  After working in the operating rooms at MMC and Mercy Hospital, she returned to USM, where she earned her Bachelors of Science in Nursing and became an RN.  Betty worked as an adolescent psychiatric nurse at Jackson Brook Institute (now Spring Harbor), and in 1994, she took a position as an office nurse with Lucinda L. Wegener, M.D.  She became a certified dermatology nurse in 1999 and has continued working with Dr. Wegener at Dermatology Associates.  She provides educational services to several local schools and has done dermatology programs for USM and UNE nurses and nursing students.  In the spring of 2006, she completed her Masters of Science in Nursing at USM and became certified by the American Association of Nurse Practioners as an ANP (adult nurse practioner).  She is a member of the Dermatology Nurses Association and its Nurse Practioner Society.  She is also active in several community organizations.  Betty is a mother and grandmother and resides in Portland with her husband.



Kristin Mathieson is a native of Maine. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Southern Maine.  Ms. Mathieson received her Master of Science from Husson College and her Family Nurse Practitioner Certification from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

She joined Dermatology Associates in 2002. Prior to transitioning to the role of Nurse Practitioner she spent five years as the Clinical Coordinator. Her previous nursing experience includes working in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit at Maine Medical Center. Prior to that, she worked for 13 years in both a clinical and administrative role at Palm Beach Dermatology in West Palm Beach, Florida.

She is a member of the Dermatology Nurse Association and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Ms. Mathieson resides in South Portland.
